This course serves as the next step for students who have completed the Emergency Core Course.
The course qualifies for online procedural grant.
Approvals, Accreditations:
ACEM - Approved for 103 CPD hours
ACRRM - Accredited for 110 CPD hours

Gain knowledge, skills and experience in Emergency Medicine, with access to a highly experienced faculty of emergency and trauma clinicians in a major tertiary hospital setting.
This course provides a practical opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and skills required of an advanced emergency medicine practitioner.

Students will be required to complete online studies over a twelve-week program.
This course can either be completed as a standalone certificate, or as one unit towards the Master of Public Health with Monash University.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is relevant to CMOs, General Practitioners, Emergency Medicine trainees and clinicians (suggested PGY3 or equivalent onwards) and clinicians responsible for emergency care in rural and remote settings.
ELIGIBILITY
MBBS.
Registration with MBA or relevant equivalent international body.
A minimum of two years equivalent full-time experience in the cognate discipline.
Evidence of current clinical experience in the field of Emergency Medicine (suggested 0.5FTE minimum). Reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

*Intensive week is a hurdle requirement, attendance is compulsory.
Tutorials: The weekly live tutorials are typically held every Wednesday from 6.30 to 7.30pm (AEST) unless otherwise notified.
Faculty

Dr Dave McCreary
Dr David McCreary is an Emergency Physician at the Alfred Hospital and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University. He completed his undergraduate training in the UK at the University of Liverpool and completed his MSc in Trauma Science from Queen Mary’s University, London. David trained in Emergency Medicine in a variety of centres in UK and Australia and is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.

Dr Gavin Ng
Dr Gavin Ng is a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, and is currently employed as an Emergency Physician at Alfred Health and Ballarat Health Services. Gavin completed his undergraduate medical training in 2011, graduating from the University of Melbourne. He has been training in Emergency Medicine since 2014. Gavin has worked in a variety of clinical settings, ranging from metropolitan EDs to regional areas in Victoria.

Dr Binula Wickramarachchi
Dr Binula Wickramarachchi is an Emergency Physician at the Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Auckland in 2011, prior to making the move across the Tasman for his emergency specialist training. His clinical experience includes emergency, critical care and retrieval medicine in various sites across Melbourne and Darwin.

Dr Rahul Snelling
Rahul is a FACEM who is currently an Emergency Fellow at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Having commenced his medical career in Queensland, he moved to The Alfred in Melbourne to complete his adult emergency medicine training. With an interest in paediatric medicine, he is currently completing his paediatric emergency medicine training to be dual trained in PEM.

Dr Laura Scott
Dr Laura Scott is an Emergency and Trauma Physician at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and Senior Lecturer at Monash University. Laura graduated from the University of Dundee in 2010 and on completing her Foundation Training in Glasgow, she moved to sunnier climes in 2012 to Fremantle, Western Australia. Here she chose to pursue her career in Emergency Medicine before joining The Alfred in 2016. Since then she has developed her passions for Quality Improvement within the Emergency Department, Education, Mentoring and Wellbeing, Geriatric EM and Trauma Medicine. She’s worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital and completed her Emergency Medicine training as a Fellow with the Alfred Trauma Service.
