The transition from ED resident to registrar is one of the most challenging steps in an emergency doctor’s career, marked by increased clinical responsibility and leadership demands.
These challenges are common across both major and regional/rural centers. This program is designed to prepare ED registrars for their first years of training, focusing on the skills required to balance leadership and learning.

- ACEM trainees in Training Stage 1
- Other doctors commencing work in ED registrar roles
- Senior ED residents preparing for ACEM training or planning to step-up into a Registrar role

Dr Dave McCreary
Dr David McCreary is an Emergency Physician at the Alfred Hospital and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University. He completed his undergraduate training in the UK at the University of Liverpool and completed his MSc in Trauma Science from Queen Mary’s University, London. David trained in Emergency Medicine in a variety of centres in UK and Australia and is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.

Dr Josh Monester
Dr Josh Monester is an emergency physician and trauma consultant with special interests in medical education, simulation and ultrasound. He trained in a range of hospitals across Victoria, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, and is currently undertaking a Master of Clinical Education exploring his interest in transition periods in emergency medicine training.

Dr Carl Luckhoff
Dr Carl Luckhoff is the Director of The Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre and Adjunct Senior Lecturer with Monash University. Following his initial training in South Africa, Carl worked in the UK and other overseas remote locations before starting his emergency specialist training in Australia. He has since completed his Global Executive MBA from Monash Business School.

Dr Eleanor Junckerstorff
Dr Eleanor Junckerstorff was elected to a fellowship of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) in 2018. Since then she has been working as an emergency physician at The Alfred and Sandringham Hospitals. Eleanor enjoys playing a role in the education of her medical colleague. She is an APLS instructor.

Dr Laura Scott
Dr Laura Scott is an Emergency and Trauma Physician at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and Senior Lecturer at Monash University. Laura graduated from the University of Dundee in 2010 and on completing her Foundation Training in Glasgow, she moved to sunnier climes in 2012 to Fremantle, Western Australia. Here she chose to pursue her career in Emergency Medicine before joining The Alfred in 2016. Since then she has developed her passions for Quality Improvement within the Emergency Department, Education, Mentoring and Wellbeing, Geriatric EM and Trauma Medicine. She’s worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital and completed her Emergency Medicine training as a Fellow with the Alfred Trauma Service.

Dr Mehul Srivastava
Dr Mehul Srivastava is an Emergency Registrar with Alfred Health and an Adjunct Lecturer with Monash University. She has a strong interest in research and medical education, with prior experience as an Honorary Research Fellow at University College London and contributor to Cochrane Heart. She brings this research lens to her role as a Simulation Senior Registrar, where she has led on program evaluation and interprofessional education initiatives.
